Translating the plugin is the same as any other WordPress plugin. You can translate the plugin using the Loco Translate or any offline tool like Poedit.
Please note that the plugin uses only 1 file for translation. So, you only need to translate the free plugin. There is no need to translate the pro plugin. In fact, the pro plugin does not have any .pot file for translations.
The Loco Translate plugin will make things easier for you as you won’t have to deal with file names, language codes, and everything. The plugin will take care of the whole process, and you can focus on just translating the strings. Here are the steps for you if you have not used the plugin-
- Go to plugins > Add New > Search for “Loco Translate”. Install and Activate the plugin.
- Go to Loco Translate > Plugins > Crew HRM
Then you need to click on Create New Language
You must select your preferred language from the dropdown and the location to save the translation. We do not recommend using the Author option, as it will be removed when the plugin updates. The safest option is Custom, but if you do not want to use Loco Translate after you’re done with the translation process, then you can select System. This is a bit safer from the author, and it will remove the dependency to keep the loco translate plugin installed and active.
When you’re done selecting both options, click on Start Translating. You will see a screen like the one below. Write your translations on the box at the end and click the Save button at the top when you’re done.
If you have previously set your WordPress language to German or any language other than English, you do not need to do anything else. The translations should work right after saving them. If you haven’t set your WordPress language yet, you must do so from Settings > General.
